1Open checkout from the queue

This tutorial shows how a Fiserv store takes payment on the front-desk iPad. Cards go on the Clover Compact reader; the tip and signature happen on the iPad. When a guest finishes, tap "Checkout" in the sidebar. Guests waiting to pay are listed on the right. Tap "Checkout". The checkout page lists the visit on the left. The amount due, the tip option and the payment methods are on the right. The tip option defaults to "Guest chooses · card reader": the guest picks a tip on the iPad, and the tip goes on the reader together with the service. Tap "Card" to open the reader list, and pick the Clover Compact at the front desk. Below are the four steps the guest goes through on the iPad. If the reader is unavailable, tap "Key in card number". Tap the charge button at the bottom right, then turn the iPad to the guest.

2Customer screen: tip and card

Customer screens are always in English, whatever language the front desk uses. The guest picks a tip first. 18% is selected by default; they can pick another percentage, tap Custom to type an amount, or tap No tip. The guest taps Confirm Tip, and the iPad asks them to pay on the reader. This amount already includes the tip. The guest inserts or taps the card on the reader. It shows Processing, then Approved. Once the card is approved, the iPad moves on by itself. The front desk does not need to tap anything.

3Sign, hand back, print

Next the guest signs on the iPad, rates the therapist, and can leave an email for the receipt. The guest taps Confirm, and the screen asks them to hand the iPad back to the front desk. The front desk sees the completion page. With auto-print turned on, the reader prints the receipt by itself. To print another copy, tap this button. The Order# on the receipt is the Kuee order number; use it to find this charge in CardPointe. While the guest is still here, tap "Book next visit" to book the next visit, or tap "Done".

Stores, clients and amounts in the tutorials are demo data. Some features need a particular plan or must be turned on for your store; the tutorial says so when it comes up. Didn’t find an answer? See the FAQ · contact us

4When the charge fails

If the charge does not go through, the customer screen goes back to the tip page with a red message at the top. Declined: nothing was charged. Ask the guest for another card or another way to pay. The guest pressed the red key on the reader: nothing was charged, and they can try again. No confirmed result, for example the network dropped: the card may already be charged. The ticket locks and the iPad will not charge again. Do not ask the guest to pay again; check the order in the web dashboard.

5Tip-only and split payments

If the guest pays the service in cash but wants to tip by card: keep the tip on "Guest chooses · card reader" and tap "Cash". After confirming the cash, turn the iPad to the guest. They type the tip, and the reader charges only the tip. To take part in cash and part by card, tap "Cash + card split" and enter the two amounts. They must add up to the amount due. After you confirm, the card part goes straight to the reader. A split does not use the customer screen and does not ask for a tip.

6Save a card, pay with it later

If the store charges no-show fees or membership renewals, you can save the guest's card during checkout. Under the reader list, tick "Save this card for future no-show fees / membership renewals". After the tip, the customer screen asks "Save your card?". The card is saved only if the guest taps Save my card; then they pay as usual. The completion page confirms at the top that the card was saved. Next visit, the reader list has a "Saved card" option. Pick it and tap "Hand to customer". The guest confirms on the iPad and is charged without tapping a card. Turning on VIP auto-renew in the customer profile works the same way: the first period is charged on the reader and the card is saved for renewals.

7Sell a package by card

To sell a package on its own, open the "Packages" tab in the customer profile and tap "Buy Package". Tick the package and tap Charge. Choose Card as the payment method, check the reader, then tap Checkout. This kind of charge skips the customer screen and the tip. The guest pays straight on the reader. Once approved, you see Purchase Complete, and the package shows up in the guest's packages right away.

8Transactions, reprint, refund

"Transactions" in the sidebar lists all of today's orders. Tap a card order to open it. "Print receipt" at the top right prints another copy on the reader. To refund, tap "Refund". Before a Fiserv charge settles it can only be voided in full; partial refunds are available after settlement, usually the next day. Pick a reason and tap "Confirm Refund". The money goes back to the guest's card; no card tap is needed.
