1Set up the kiosk

Self check-in lives in About This Store, under Front-desk devices. Only the owner, admins and the front desk can see it. Turn on Allow walk-in booking so customers without an appointment can book on the iPad themselves. It is off by default. On the front-desk iPad, tap Open Kiosk, or click Generate QR Code and scan it with the iPad. The link itself is the key, so there is no login. Add it to the iPad home screen and you get an icon with your store's name: Serenity Touch · Self Check-in. If the link ever leaks, click Reset QR: the old link and every printed QR code stop working at once. The row below is the Therapist Claim Board, a separate screen for therapists. We will get to it at the end.

2The home screen

With walk-in booking on, the home screen has two big cards: left if you have an appointment, right if you don't. With it off, the home screen is the phone keypad. The kiosk opens in English. Customers tap the language button at the top right to switch between Chinese, English, Korean and Vietnamese. After a minute with no taps, it goes back to the home screen on its own, so the next customer always starts fresh.

3Check in an appointment

Sarah has a 2 PM appointment. She taps I have an appointment, enters the last four digits of her phone, and taps Continue. The kiosk finds today's appointment and shows the time, service and therapist. If several appointments share the number, she picks herself first. Check-in works from 30 minutes before to 30 minutes after the appointment. She taps Confirm arrival; the appointment becomes in progress, and the front desk sees her arrival on the appointment page. She has filled out the intake form before, so she doesn't redo it. Nothing has changed, so she taps Confirm, continue check-in. If something had changed, the button below opens the intake form. She's checked in. The welcome screen asks her to take a seat while Amy comes for her, then returns home after a few seconds.

Stores, clients and amounts in the tutorials are demo data. Some features need a particular plan or must be turned on for your store; the tutorial says so when it comes up. Didn’t find an answer? See the FAQ · contact us

4Walk-in booking

A customer without an appointment taps No appointment. She picks services on the left: up to three, done in the order she taps them, by one therapist. The time is always today's earliest free slot. She can pick a therapist, or leave it on No preference: the booking stays unassigned until the front desk assigns it or a therapist takes it on the claim board. She enters her phone number, adds a first name since she's new, and taps Confirm booking. With no therapist picked, there's no check-in yet: the screen asks her to wait in the lobby, and she's checked in when a therapist takes her. If she picks a therapist instead, she's checked in right away. First-time customers are then asked whether to fill out the intake form now, about two minutes, or skip it and get help from the front desk. Customers who aren't sure can tap I'll choose at the front desk to sign up first; the front desk then picks the service and therapist with them.

5Therapist signature

The Staff button at the top right is for therapists. When a customer's intake form needs a therapist signature, it shows a red dot. The therapist taps their session, reviews the body map and intake answers, signs below and taps Confirm signature. This isn't clocking in; starting a job happens on the claim board.

6The claim board

The claim board is a separate link for therapists, often on another iPad. Each therapist has a tile with a color and number, showing Free, Up next or In progress. Amy taps her own tile to open My jobs. She taps Start when the customer is ready and End when finished. A start can be undone within five minutes. Under Up for grabs · you can do are jobs with no therapist yet that she can do. A walk-in with several services goes to her as one job, done back to back. Tapping I'll take it takes it, and starting it checks the guest in. If the store turns on the PIN switch, therapists enter a PIN before opening My jobs.

7Wrap-up

That covers self check-in: setting it up, checking in, walk-in booking, therapist signatures and the claim board. Next up: how customers book online.
